Generally, the Crime Index is calculated using a variety of correlated data, including accident rates, crime rates, health risks, and environmental conditions in a particular location, region, or year. Statistically, the Crime Index has a value of 0 to 100; higher numbers indicate that the highest rate of crime occurred in a particular location or region in a specific year. For example, in the Numbeo Crime Index by Country 2024, Venezuela ranked first out of 146 countries with an Index of 80.90. According to these statistics, Venezuela is the most dangerous country in the world in 2024.

Overall crime rate is calculated by dividing the total number of reported crimes of any kind by the total population, then multiplying the result by 100,000 (because crime rate is typically reported as X number of crimes per 100,000 people).

On the other hand, Qatar and United Arab Emirates, which have maintained their position in the top rankings as safest countries, have strong governmental policies and security to make them safest countries in the world from 2018 to 2024.
